REPORT – TR. TARANG KRISHNA, SECRETARY, DRT5
I was not too sure if I would go to the race after a week full of traveling, with a lot of early morning flights, morning meetings and late night business dinners. Dreading to get up at 7:00 am on a Sunday morning, I was thinking to myself: NO WAY
The noble cause for the race created a spark. The word “race” excited my 5 year old and he was up at 7:00 am with his iPad to navigate us on Google Naps (that’s what he calls google maps). It was smoother to get him ready for the rally than for school.
After the registration while we were going for the lineup, I was overwhelmed to see the professionalism, enthusiasm, zest and the zeal of the event organizers. The stickering of the posters on the car, the refreshment packets and drinks, printed caps and shirts, as well as the media coverage. It seemed like a show organized by 80 friends and not 18.
As the visually impaired 16 year old girl was handed over to us, I could not believe she was blind. She turned around to say hello to my wife and kid and that too looking in the right directions. Probably following the voices that she heard and introduced herself as “Sabaah” She told she could see till the age of 8 and after that she lost her sight.
SABAAH: the name means Morning or Bright.
What a MISNOMER? What a foul play of fate?
(Misnomer dictionary meaning = An error in naming a person or place)
As we were waiting for the flag-off, she mentioned that she is good at sports & takes part in paraolympics at state level and was an excellent athlete.
With the flag-off she opened the Braille Embossed Sheet and started to read with her finger-tips using them like a hand-held scanner.
She could hardly keep up with the pace of my car traveling barely at 15-20 kmph. I reached the turns faster than she could read and I was thinking to myself, we are definitely going to lose this race. Slowly I started feeling sorry for the poor kid who was only 15-16 years old and trying to read Braille in a moving car.
“After 5-6 turns I realized this was not a race. “
This was actually a bonding session. LRT wanted us to get acquainted with the hardships that the blind people go through in their lives.
We had driven a little distance (15 km out of 44) and Sabaah started feeling motion sick. After having two rounds of ‘sickness’ I thought of quitting the rally, but she wanted to make my son ‘Krishiv’ win the race. When I called it quits because of her health, she was just shattered and kept pestering me to continue the race. Her determination was just outstanding.
Visually Impaired….Sister to 4 other girls….Fatherless….she had no one to take her problems to but to fight herself
We are so small as beings in front of these kids. We should thank God for every breath we take in good health and in good state!
This must be the story of so many Sabaah’s in this world.
Please find attached a report on our HRD session held just before the social thrown by Tr. Gaurav Bansal.
I, and all my fellow tablers, would like to put it on record that we are ever so grateful to Tr. Chirag Sethi for facilitating the couples HRD session, so wonderfully. He managed to make it despite the hectic schedule of Indore Table inaugration, and conducted the session with complete vigor and energy. Simply awesome!!
Thanks to Tr. Gaurav Bansal and Neety Bansal for hosting the social. Great night for all of us!! A night to remember…

PRE-EVENT REPORT – BLIND MAN RALLY – 14-APRIL-2013, LUDHIANA
It all started for LRT-188 when one fine evening early in March 2013 at the table’s Business Meet, our table chairman Tr. Rishi Gupta expressed his keen desire to organize Blind Man Rally in Ludhiana as our next fund raiser.
The idea was supported by the entire table with a unanimous thumbs-up. What has followed since is a tale of a lot of hard work, late night meets, high tempers, disappointments and joys. Team LRT has worked around the clock to prepare aptly for the big day. They have been led from the front by Chairman Rishi Gupta and Vice-Chairman Jitesh Jain who is the untiring, ever smiling convener for LRT-188 – Blind Man Rally 2013 (BMR-2013).
LRT-188 has left no stone unturned to make this event a grand success. The effort put in by the team can be seen in the huge support we have received from corporate Ludhiana led by FIAT & HDFC Bank Ltd among others who have come on-board BMR-Ludhiana-2013 as sponsors. The event has received tremendous media coverage from TV, newspaper to FM radio. For Outdoor publicity large hoardings have been displayed across the town.
All in all the stage has been set and the ground has been laid. We are keenly looking forward to the weekend to put up a grand show that will take the name of Round Table India to further heights.Tr. Nikhil Ailawadi, Publicity Convener, LRT-188
On behalf of DMRT 149 & DURT 229 I would like to invite you all for the inauguration of Indore Round Table on the 19th of April’ 2013 at Indore. Looking forward to your support to the Newest Kid on the Block, so lets be there in good numbers to celebrate the arrival.
See you all in Indore…

15th of March 2013 was a momentous day for GMCRT 217. It was our first large scale fund raiser (though we now think we could go bigger!).
The Event was Hasya Kavi Sammelan, held at India Islamic Centre. Attached is a report on that.
This event was big and important for us, not only for the following reasons:
Seven celebrity Kavis brought on to the same stage
Dr. Balram Jakhar was brought in as Chief Guest
We raised net proceeds of Rs. 2.1 Lakhs approx against a target of 1.5 Lakhs
BUT Also due to the fact that:
The entire event was conceptualised by GMCRT.
Executed by GMCRT entirely – no external help of any agency at all
All this in flat 25 days approx (decision to execution)
In a very professional manner – with individual responsibilities, project trackers, concalls, updates
We would have drove anyone mad with constant talk about the event during those 25 days but the ladies of the table not only understood our excitement but were always there to support and at times took over the charge too.
All in all, we rocked as a team together. Thanks GMCRT Team. Thanks Ladies of GMCRT. Thanks Area Chairman and Headboard for supporting us. Thanks Nayanesh, Chirag, Vivek and other tablers for taking time out and joining us at the event. Please tell everybody what an awesome night it was! 🙂Yours in Tabling Tr. Harsh Saxena Chairman – GMCRT 217
